Former President Barack Obama took to Twitter Wednesday morning to encourage people to shop for Affordable Care Act health insurance.
Obama’s rare appeal comes as his signature health care law is under attack by his successor, President Trump, and Republicans in Congress.
Obama’s tweet to his more than 95 million followers includes a short video, set to jaunty music, where the former president urges people to log on to the federal insurance exchange, HealthCare.gov, and sign up for coverage for next year.
“It’s November 1, which means today is the first day to get covered for 2018,” Obama says. It’s not clear where he’s standing, but the ocean is in the background.

Former Vice President Joe Biden has figured something out: “I learned how to become one of the most popular politicians in America,” he says. “Announce that you are not running for president, and be authentic.”
Biden shared that secret with Fresh Air on Tuesday in front of a live audience at WHYY studios in Philadelphia, where he received WHYY’s Lifelong Learning Award for his distinguished career in public service and commitment to education.
Biden became a senator when he was 30 years old, and this is the first time in 44 years that he hasn’t been in office. “This is the first time in not just eight years, probably 15 years, I haven’t gotten up and a CIA agent … hasn’t briefed me on what’s going on in Ramadi or South Korea,” he says.

Islam is growing more rapidly than any other religion in the world, according to a new report by the Pew Research Center that says the religion will nearly equal Christianity by 2050 before eclipsing it around 2070, if current trends continue.
“The main reason Muslims are growing not only in number but in share worldwide is because of where they live,” Alan Cooperman, Pew’s director of religion research, tells NPR’s Tom Gjelten. “Muslim populations are concentrated in some of the fastest-growing parts of the world.”
The finding is part of the center’s report on the future of the world’s religions. You can see the full report at the Pew site, which has also published an interactive tool to help readers drill down by geography and religion.
