The more we know the more we realise how little we know. The Kepler space telescope has confirmed its first-ever planet in a habitable zone outside our solar system and it has been confirmed that this is the  first rocky exoplanet to meet key requirements for sustaining life, as far as our comprehension goes on the edge and the start of 2012.This planet called Kepler-22b has been glimpsed first in 2009. This Kepler-22b is some 2.4 times the size of the Earth and goes around its Sun-like star every 290 days. It’s close to surface temperature is estimated to be some 22 degrees Celsius. It is not sure however whether the planet is rocky, gaseous or liquid.

This latest confirmed exoplanet that could support life brings the total number confirmed by global astronomers up to three.

The idea that planets beyond Earth may have life is an old one. The late 20th century revealed…

Turns out it wasn’t cursed after all.

Earlier this year, officials at Manchester Museum were puzzled by the mystery of a 10-inch tall figurine of Neb-Senu that appeared to rotate in its display case, and would do so repeatedly over time even after it was put back in place.

“In ancient Egypt they believed that if the mummy is destroyed then the statuette can act as an alternative vessel for the spirit. Maybe that is what is causing the movement,” curator Campbell Price, 29, told The Manchester Evening News at the time. “I thought it was strange because it is in a case and I am the only one who has a key.”

Other experts held that the strange phenomenon had a logical explanation. Several theories were posed, with one suggesting that time-lapse footage of the statue had been doctored to make it appear…

Two men were each ordered held on $1 million bail Tuesday in the beating death of a 17-year-old national champion boxer from Phoenix.

Alexis Urbina was found unconscious and covered in blood in his family’s south Phoenix home on Sept. 3, according to police. The teen who aspired to be an Olympic boxer died of his injuries two days later.

There was no obvious sign of forced entry into the house, but Urbina’s family told police some of his boxing memorabilia was missing.

Urbina won the 141-pound Youth Men’s Division at the USA Boxing National Championships in April at Spokane, Wash.

Robert Chavez, 22, and Joseph Jessie Corrales, 23, were arrested Friday night by Phoenix police.

Both men had their initial court appearance Tuesday on charges of first-degree murder, burglary and trafficking in stolen property.

A smiling George Zimmerman was released from jail on Tuesday, hours after his first court appearance on domestic violence-related charges.

Zimmerman, who allegedly pointed a shotgun at his girlfriend’s face Monday, was charged with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony, as well as battery and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors. He was released after posting $9,000 bond.

Judge Fred Schott ordered Zimmerman to stay away from his girlfriend’s house and wear a monitoring device.

Earlier in the day, Zimmerman, 30, was served with divorce papers from his estranged wife, Shellie Zimmerman, amid fresh claims from a prosecutor that he choked his girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, in an unreported incident.
