The 16th Street Mall is a granite paved mile long promenade, nicknamed the Crown Jewel of Denver.

If you are starting at the beginning of the mall in historical LoDo (Lower Downtown) one of your first stops may be the Tattered Cover book store. The staff is very knowledgeable and there customer service sets them apart from many other book stores in Denver.  If your are lucky you will catch a glimpse of a famous author signing their latest book.

Historical LoDo is known for it’s Beautiful architecture.  In fact Denver is artistically rich,  even the granite paved mall looks like the back of a diamond back rattle snake.

There are hand painted  pianos  lining the 16th Street mall  open to the public.  It’s not uncommon for people to walk off the street and sit down and start playing a tune.

Two hand painted cows  graze on the mall, reminding visitors…

She was the most glamorous of screen legends, but the woman who dripped diamonds on the red carpet had a side few ever saw. “She was a fierce mama lioness,” says her son Christopher Wilding, 58. From giving haircuts on set to throwing holiday celebrations wherever the family called home, he says, “she took great pains to create a stable family life” for her four children, Michael and Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd Tivey and Maria Burton-McKeown. All intensely private, three generations of her family spoke to People and shared never-before-seen pictures in honor of Taylor’s final act, her passionate fight against AIDS. “She was the archetype of a mother: strong, protective, loving, comforting and funny,” says her granddaughter Laela Wilding, 42. As an activist, “what she really wanted to give people was hope and the feeling that, ‘I am here for you and I am…

Where ever one looks online, a huge piece of the MTB trail is missing. And it might be the best part as well! It ads a couple of kilometers extra to the route and it is completely marked too. When looking on MTB-routes, nobody seem to know. The strangest thing is, it starts at one of the official parkingplaces.

It is a circle around of what we call: Old Wolfheze [AnnO 800]. Wolfheze was one of the oldest villages of the Netherlands but the Spanish Army burned it to the ground in 1585.  The only building remaining was the wild forsters house but was destroyed by flames too. So no one knew were the village was until mid 1800’s.

Nowaday’s a beatifull gate marks the entrance towards the area. The area is so beautifull there was an paintersvillage situated compared to Barbizon. The place were Vincent van Gogh grew…

My God, My God,
why have You forsaken me,
created this joy
among all the pain
of the world?
Should I shed tears
or smile?
Without the knowledge
my heart suffers
and mind restlessly
looks for the solution.

If I said:
Our daily bread
is not flat, not round
or soft,
but the profound understanding
that it is made of grain
wherever we go
and sit at the table,
nobody would be all ears.
Why they don’t hear me,
because it alone
put out this flame
of guilt.

Is this why
we are kept on earth?
If this will be worked out
will the gates of Heaven
open to us?
Thus I cry out loud:
let us free the spirit
by breaking bread
with a man
next to us.

Commercially and critically, R surely has to be recognised as one of the most successful letters in the modern musical era. A micropauser is truly spoiled for choice.  Open up and say….R!

Lou Reed: Dirty Boulevard (live in New York, 1998)
My sole encounter with Lou Reed was an acoustic show in a tent in Skibbereen, Ireland during the 1998 Liss Ard festival. Having held my ground in the second row for a few hours, I lost control of my smuggled camera and blinded Lou with the flash. Fortunately he didn’t walk off, but he did a summon a very large gentleman from the wings who came down to me and said “Lou wants you to stop now”. Glad I didn’t spoil his good mood. He played half of Transformer, a couple of VU songs, and more recent songs, including this one – a perfect night.
