CAROL's WORLDS

I had heard Noah wasn’t biblical and some other criticisms that I wouldn’t be able to elaborate on until I actually saw the movie. So now I can tell you that Noah is as biblical as scripture allows. What I mean by this is the Bible does not go into detail about Noah’s plight. All that is undefined in the Bible, is filled in by Hollywood. Whose to say it wasn’t the way this movie depicts the story. So at best, it’s 75/25 in favor of the Bible. Russell Crowe really played the heck out of Noah. Jennifer Connelly as Noah’s wife, Naameh was brilliant. Noah was tasked, by God, to fulfill this monumental assignment of building an arc to house his family and 2 of all the existing creatures in the world during the annihilation of all sinners by flooding water. I don’t think the movie mentioned that the rains lasted 40…

The Grey Enigma

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Battling food shortages, the government is rolling out a new ID system that is either a grocery loyalty card with extra muscle or the most dramatic step yet toward rationing in Venezuela, depending on who is describing it.

President Nicolas Maduro’s administration says the cards to track families’ purchases will foil people who stock up on groceries at subsidized prices and then illegally resell them for several times the amount. Critics say it’s another sign the oil-rich Venezuelan economy is headed toward Cuba-style dysfunction.

Registration begins at more than 100 government-run supermarkets across the country Tuesday, and working-class shoppers who sometimes endure hours-long lines at government-run stores to buy groceries at steeply reduced prices are welcoming the plan.

President Barack Obama reveled in the last-minute success of the new health insurance exchanges Tuesday, confirming that more than 7 million people have signed up for new plans, a million of them in March alone, and attacking the law’s critics.
“This law has made our health care system a lot better. A lot better,” Obama said at a White House briefing. “Regardless of your politics, or your feelings about the law or your feelings about me, that is something that is good for the economy.”
Monday was the deadline for people to at least get started in the process of enrolling for health insurance on the new exchanges. People who have not at least started will have to wait until November to enroll for 2015, unless they have a major life event such as losing a job or getting married.

If the world doesn’t cut pollution of heat-trapping gases, the already noticeable harms of global warming could spiral “out of control,” the head of a United Nations scientific panel warned Monday.
And he’s not alone. The Obama White House says it is taking this new report as a call for action, with Secretary of State John Kerry saying “the costs of inaction are catastrophic.”
