Getting a second dog has been on K’s and my mind ever since we got little Miahome. The more I think about it, the more tempted I am. And who wouldn’t be after seeing pictures of the adorable dogs that Claw (we adopted Mia from this NGO) and the SPCA keep posting! But getting a second dog is a big decision – both for us as well as for Mia.

There are several things that one must keep in mind before adding to the (pet) family. Primarily, will the existing pet be able to adjust with the new addition? Sometimes, a lone dog gets very used to being the centre of attention of the family. It then finds it very difficult to ‘share’ the love. Almost similar to what happens with kids too. Don’t ever watch infomercials when you’re bored and your wallet is handy.  Had a cold a few weeks ago, was flipping channels, and happened on a commercial for Smarty-Kitty, a product that will train a cat of any age to use the toilet.  I didn’t need Smarty-Kitty.  Squeaky, my ragdoll cat is five years old and up until I interfered with his life at that point, had never had an accident.  Well, naturally, I got busy and ordered Smarty-Kitty and the amazing “But wait” cat products that came along with it, postage and handling separate.  As soon as Smarty-Kitty arrived, I set it up as directed on a stool, in the bathroom near toilet, and Squeaky accommodated my craziness by using it, just like the commercial said he would.  We progressed in baby steps, as directed, moving it closer, finally, putting cat toilet directly on toilet seat.  Squeaky was okay…

Went swimming as usual at municipal pool.  Note that new suit is starting to disintegrate. Suit was bought mere month ago.  Have already replaced suit once this summer. Swimming, originally thought to be a rather inexpensive way to keep in shape, is becoming rather costly.

Have tried numerous ways to wash suit after swimming. Would like to invent swimsuit which can withstand kryptonite death rays, yet still remain comfortable. (Note to self: Must get chemical engineering degree, and establish science lab in basement). Do not have basement, and am not any great shakes at science. Hopes of becoming rich and famous by inventing item many people would need and want, become faint once again…

I was having a deep conversation with a friend of mine the other day about the world’s issues, We do that from time to time. It’s refreshing to have conversations with people that require intellectual thought, and to be able to express your opinions without being judged or reprimanded, quite a rarity these days.

We were talking about greed, and she says to me, “They always say “money is the root of all evil.”

This quote has always been misinterpreted,   It is not money, that is the root of all evil.  If you have a room filled with money and there’s no one there to fight over it, it harms no one. 

It is “the love of money, that is the root of all evil.” or in laymen terms: greed.

Anything in this world can be exploited which is why intellect is not enough, we need to seek wisdom to…

Have you have met someone so inspiring that you are amazed? You know what I mean, someone who faces obstacles in daily living you can’t imagine, while you are unaware sometimes just blessed it is to have your whole health.

I stared unblinking at the crumpled and well-worn letter that I had found fluttering in the breeze on the bridge that I escape to for my daily lunch break, my heart aching in my chest. I attempt to gather my thoughts, my lunch and my keys for that return trip to work.  All I could think about was the absolute and infinite sadness found on that page.  I pause in shock as the truth dawns on me, and I dash to the side of the bridge to peer over.
