It has been a while since I wrote my last post and so I would like to pick up on my experience in Boston. Like my last few trips  I was limited to a weekend to explore a new place and learn as much as I can with the small amount of time I had. I believe this is possible in Boston where there is so many things to see. I remember asking a lady about Boston and she told me that “Boston is an interesting city,” which I found to be extremly true.

I went to Boston because I was always interested in seeing the city. There is so many cultural and pop references to Boston that I was curious to see what the city was like. There is a lot of history that I wanted to explore and I thought a trip to Boston would provide a better context of…

Former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, who served three terms from 1983 to 1994, and whose son currently holds the office, has died at the age of 82.

Cuomo died of heart failure Thursday evening, hours after his son, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, delivered a speech to kick off his second term as governor. Andrew Cuomo said his father was unable to attend the ceremony because of his health, but was present in spirit.

 

“He is in the heart and mind of every person who is here,” Andrew Cuomo told the crowd. “He is here and he is here, and his inspiration and his legacy and his experience is what has brought the state to this point. So let’s give him a round of applause.”

Rampage Capital Punishment not only  held my interest, it’s action and subject matter awakened me right out of a sleepy stupor.  It was exciting and suspenseful.  A disturbed man decides to get his political message across by killing over a 100 people, taking over a TV station, making what’s left of the employees hostages and broadcasting an interview between a known, local anchorman named Chip and himself.  While most of his message has merit, his methodology and human sacrifice was sickening and unwarranted.  Justifying his killing spree because “there’s too many people in the world” rendered his message void.  Brendan Fletcher plays Bill Williams,  a vigilante who is seeking vengeance on the rich,  has truly lost his mind.  His message of how this government is run was spot on.  There’s a lot of action and killing in this movie.  I saw it on Netflix, only to discover Rampage Capital Punishment is a sequel.  I will watch the first iteration called Rampage…

Big Eyes is based on the true story of Margaret Keane who gave away her rightful ownership for creating paintings of children with very large eyes.  Her paintings were brilliant, beautiful and sometimes sad.  Amy Adams plays artist Margaret Keane,  who married Walter Keane, the name she painted under.  Because of Walter’s savvy marketing abilities and the fact that women artist were not taken seriously, he was able to convince Margaret that he should take credit for the paintings and she agreed.  Walter is magnificently played by Christoph Waltz (known for Django and Inglourious Basterds among a huge list of cinematography) .  As the couple became well known for Margaret’s paintings, their relationship began taking a tremendous hit, due to Margaret’s resentment of her husband taking credit for something he didn’t create.  Her weakness to step forward and tell the truth about who was really creating the paintings became the focus of her being.  In the end, Margaret had to sue…

I expected a good remake of Annie and I got one.  Jamie Foxx delivered a fantastic performance of Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks, renamed Will Stacks.  The real draw was Quvenzhané Wallis  who is absolutely adorable.  She plays Annie Bennett and is currently the youngest nominated Oscar candidate in the history of the Academy of Arts and Science.  She was nominated 2 years ago for “Beast of the Southern Wild”.  She was mesmerizing then and mesmerizing now.  She is talented and charismatic.  In Annie, Quvenzhané  sang and danced her way through scene after scene in search of her real parents, a slight twist from the original Annie.  Cameron Diaz also delivered a brilliant performance as the always drunken Miss Colleen Hannigan who is the foster parent responsible for a house filled with orphan children.  Foxx is a billionaire who is running for mayor of New York City.  Bobby Cannavale plays Guy, Stacks campaign adviser and Rose Byrne plays Grace, Stack’s love interest and…

Researchers have identified the cause of a Kansas farmer’s mysterious death this summer as Bourbon virus.

Thought to be transmitted by ticks, the virus “was fast-moving and severe, causing lung and kidney failure, and shock,” The New York Times reported, killing the previously healthy man after only 10 days in the hospital.

Together, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and University of Kansas Hospital researchers identified the virus as a thogotovirus, part of a larger type of viruses called orthomyxoviruses, Dana Hawkinson, M.D., an infectious disease specialist at The University of Kansas Hospital said in the video statement.
