On a couple of our camping trips this summer we were besieged by mosquitoes. I don’t think there was anyone who came away completely unmolested but some of us definitely seemed to be tastier that others, with a trip to hot humid bug haven Florida coming up I thought I’d look into what is it about me that makes me so appetizing and see if there is anything I can do to make myself less appealing.
I came up with some facts that really surprised me so I thought I’d share my findings
1. Breathing.
Mosquitoes detect carbon dioxide in the air, & can smell their dinner from an astonishing distance of 50 meters, once they get a whiff they fly in a zigzag pattern through the CO2 plume until they zero in the source. Cut down on exercise later in the day when mosquitoes are most active.

When we first starting working on The HuffPost Show towards the end of 2014, we turned for inspiration to a 53-year-old TV program called That Was The Week That Was — a groundbreaking series that blended music, comedy, conversation, and frequently pointed satire.

During our research, we came across video of a stunning segment the show had done in April 1963, in the wake of the murder of a civil rights protestor marching from Alabama to Jackson, Mississippi, who was gunned down on the side of the road. It was a brutally satiric musical number, featuring intentionally offensive language and imagery you’d be hard-pressed to find on TV today — let alone 50-plus years ago.

 When J.C. Huizenga sold his namesake machinery manufacturing company, he wanted to share the spoils.

The Huizenga Group chairman gave out nearly $6 million in bonuses to more than 575 workers in his two Michigan factories. It was his way of thanking the employees for helping grow the company, which now earns about $170 million in annual sales, according to CBS News.

“It is a team of people — I’ll take people over assets all day long,” he said in a segment that aired Friday on “CBS This Morning.” “It was very appropriate when we sold the company that employees should participate in the wealth we created.”

 Three weeks ago, Dan Price took a $930,000 pay cut.

Growing income inequality had been on his mind for months. But as he went for a hike with a friend one afternoon and listened to her describe her struggle with rising rent prices, he realized he had to do something for his own employees.

So Price, the founder and CEO of Gravity Payments in Seattle, decided to raise the minimum salary at his 120-person payment processing company to $70,000. At a company where the average pay was $48,000 per year, the move — which was first reported by The New York Times on Monday — affected 70 workers, 30 of whom saw their salaries double.

The human mind naturally fears change. The turmoil of a rapidly changing world will always create fear and worry, and this fear and worry will always appear in the art of these time periods. It is for this reason that M.H. Abrams defines the Victorian Period of England as a period filled with “widespread anxiety.” The industrial revolution had so vastly changed the society of England that its effects were clearly noted and many authors wrote specifically on this subject. What a great story based on true events.  Helen Mirren is fantastic as Maria Altmann, the rightful heir to “Woman In Gold”, a portrait of her aunt Adele.  The portrait was stolen by the Nazis in Vienna just prior to World War II, during Hitler’s regime.  Together, Maria and her lawyer, E. Randol Schoenberg (Ryan Reynolds) fought the Austrian government for 10 years to have returned what was rightfully hers.
