What should have been a trustworthy digital service has been compromised, in the latest sign that the U.S. government can’t be relied upon to keep the personal data of its citizens safe. On May 26, the Internal Revenue Service disclosed that sophisticated criminals had stolen tax information from 104,000 Americans via the IRS’ “Get Transcript” online service, which allows taxpayers to order copies of their own tax returns and other filings. The perpetrators, whom IRS officials believe were based in Russia and other countries, accessed the transcripts by using people’s personal information that had already been leaked elsewhere to answer the multiple-step authentication process the IRS had set up for the service.

The world’s oldest stone tools have been discovered, scientists report.

They were unearthed from the shores of Lake Turkana in Kenya, and date to 3.3 million years ago.

They are 700,000 years older than any tools found before, even pre-dating the earliest humans in the Homo genus.

The find, reported in Nature, suggests that more ancient species, such as Australopithecus afarensis or Kenyanthropus platyops, may have been more sophisticated than was thought.

San Andreas is another natural disaster movie for which we can do nothing about. The story revolves around the broken family of a helicopter rescue pilot, a Caltech Seismologist, a reporter, 2 youngsters visiting from England, a real estate developer and most of California and Nevada. Just got back from an amazing vacation.  We were in Seattle for a few days to meet up with my brother and sister in law then Hawaii  for a week.  The trip included many fantastic adventures and photos.  I was hoping to start posting these sooner, but when I got back I started having computer issues, so I’m going to keep my first post quick.

The photo below is one of the Banyan trees that was growing on the Waikiki beach.  It just struck me what an interesting tree it was, so I pulled out my wide angle lens to capture the full tree and trunk.

Rebekah Aversano hadn’t seen her brother’s face since Joshua was killed by a van while crossing the street three years ago.

Richard Norris didn’t have much of a face at all until 2012, when a team of Baltimore physicians gave him an entirely new one — a face that once belonged to Joshua Aversano, People reports.

For the first time, Rebekah got to meet Richard Norris, who received a face transplant donated by her family. The emotional meeting was captured in a 60 Minutes Australia segment that airs Sunday.

So far I’m not impressed with Wayward Pines. It’s not the acting I have a problem with, it’s the story.I guess there hasn’t been enough episodes to connect the dots. (I’M NOT SURE ABOUT THIS, AS I AM STILL PIECING THIS TOGETHER — It seems corporation(s), who are members of this secret conspiracy, are sending chosen people to a town called Wayward Pines to either be murdered or be banished from the rest of the world.) Wayward Pines has it’s own set of rules, and everyone there is watched and monitored. A couple of the rules, that will get you killed is, never speak about the past before you arrived there and never try to leave. You may have noticed that, excepting the occasional zombie apocalypse, we humans tend to function best with our nervous systems intact and our brains, limbs and major organs all connected and happily communicating with each other. Well, we feel it’s our duty to inform you that not all creatures are quite so picky when it comes to the intactness of their bodies. (And it’s not at all because we get a cheap kick out of giving our readers bed-pissingly horrible nightmares. Honest.)
