Cinque Terre is a string of centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline. In each of the 5 towns, colorful houses and vineyards cling to steep terraces, harbors are filled with fishing boats and trattorias turn out seafood specialties along with the Liguria region’s famous sauce, pesto. The Sentiero Azzurro cliffside hiking trail links the villages and offers sweeping sea vistas.

The Black Forest is a mountainous region in southwest Germany, bordering France. Known for its dense, evergreen forests and picturesque villages, it is often associated with the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. It’s renowned for its spas and the cuckoo clocks produced in the region since the 1700s. The region’s largest town, Freiburg, is filled with Gothic buildings and surrounded by vineyards.

Montezuma is a town in the southern part of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula. It’s known for its long stretch of white-sand beach, Playa Montezuma. To the northeast, a trail leads through the jungle and around coves to Playa Grande, a popular surf beach. Behind the beach is Romelia Wildlife Reserve, a turtle sanctuary and hatchery. Montezuma Waterfall comprises a series of cascades and natural pools.

The Cabo Blanco Absolute Natural Reserve is a Nature Reserve of Costa Rica, part of the Tempisque Conservation Area in the province of Puntarenas, covering an area of 3,140 acres terrestrial and 4,420 acres marine on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula near Mal Pais.

Phillip Island is an island located 6 km south of Norfolk Island in the Southwest Pacific and is part of the Norfolk Island group. It was named in 1788 by Lieutenant Philip Gidley King after Arthur Phillip, the first Governor of New South Wales.

The Elk River is a 220-kilometre long river, in the southeastern Kootenay district of the Canadian province of British Columbia. Its drainage basin is 4,450 square kilometres in area. Its mean discharge is approximately 60 cubic metres per second, with a maximum recorded discharge of 818 cubic metres per second.

Rannoch Moor is an expanse of around 50 square miles of boggy moorland to the west of Loch Rannoch in Scotland, where it extends from and into westerly Perth and Kinross, northerly Lochaber, and the area of Highland Scotland toward its south-west, northern Argyll and Bute.

Mallorca (Majorca) is one of Spain’s Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean. It’s known for beach resorts, sheltered coves, limestone mountains, and Roman and Moorish remains. Capital Palma has nightlife, the Moorish Almudaina royal palace, and 13th-century Santa María Cathedral. Stone-built villages include Pollença, with its art galleries and music festival, and hillside Fornalutx, surrounded by citrus plantations.

Maine is most famous for… Lobster and harvests the majority of the lobster in the United States. Maine has 3,478 miles of coastline – more than California (3,427), and over 5,000 miles of coast if you include all of the islands as well.

U.S. Route 1 (US 1) in the U.S. state of Maine is a major north–south state highway serving the eastern part of the state. It parallels the Atlantic Ocean from New Hampshire north through Portland, Brunswick, and Belfast to Calais, and then the St. Croix River and the rest of the Canada–US border via Houlton to Fort Kent. The portion along the ocean, known as the Coastal Route, provides a scenic alternate to Interstate 95 (I-95).

Cañon de Fernandez State Park is a natural protected area in the northern Mexican state of Durango. It covers 17,000 hectares straddling the Nazas River in Lerdo Municipality, right in the middle of the Chihuahuan Desert.
