Estonia, a country in Northern Europe, borders the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland. Including more than 1,500 islands, its diverse terrain spans rocky beaches, old-growth forests, and many lakes. Formerly part of the Soviet Union, it’s dotted with castles, churches, and hilltop fortresses. The capital, Tallinn, is known for its preserved Old Town, museums, and the 314m-high Tallinn TV Tower, which has an observation deck.

Mount Rainier National Park, a 369-sq.-mile Washington state reserve southeast of Seattle, surrounds glacier-capped, 14,410-ft. Mount Rainier. Atop 6,400-ft.-high Sunrise, the highest point in the park reachable by car, visitors can admire Rainier and other nearby volcanoes, including Mount Adams. The park’s 5,400-ft.-high Paradise overlook offers mountain views, summertime wildflower meadows, and hiking trailheads.

Bottlenose dolphins, the genus Tursiops, are the most common members of the family Delphinidae, the family of oceanic dolphin. Molecular studies show the genus contains three species: the common bottlenose dolphin, the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin, and the Burrunan dolphin.

The Valais (Wallis in German) is a canton in southern Switzerland. It’s home to the pyramid-shaped Matterhorn mountain, upscale Alpine resorts, and upper Rhône River Valley vineyards. The resort town of Zermatt, at the foot of the Matterhorn, offers numerous ski slopes and hiking on old mule traders’ routes. It’s also a starting point for the scenic Glacier Express train. In the east is the huge Aletsch Glacier.

Sardinia is a large Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea. It has nearly 2,000km of coastline, sandy beaches and a mountainous interior crossed with hiking trails. Its rugged landscape is dotted with thousands of nuraghi – mysterious Bronze Age stone ruins shaped like beehives. One of the largest and oldest nuraghi is Su Nuraxi in Barumini, dating to 1500 B.C.

Inner Mongolia, an autonomous region of northern China, encompasses green steppe, arid desert, and lengthy sections of the Great Wall of China. The Hulunbuir grasslands, a vast livestock grazing area with hundreds of rivers and popular fishing lakes, is distinguished by its mix of Russian and traditional Mongolian herder cultures. In the remote west is Badain Jaran Desert and its immense dunes.

Canyon de Chelly National Monument is a vast park in northeastern Arizona, on Navajo tribal lands. Its prominent features include Spider Rock spire, about 800-feet tall, and towering sandstone cliffs surrounding a verdant canyon. Inhabited by several Native American peoples for millennia, the area is dotted with prehistoric rock art. The White House Ruins and Mummy Cave are remains of ancient Pueblo villages.

Known for its dramatic landscapes, this outdoor region has trails for hikers & horses.

The Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness is a 47,195-acre (19,099 ha) wilderness area located within the Coconino National Forest in the U.S. state of Arizona.

The wilderness is predominantly wind and water sculpted pinnacles, windows, arches, and slot canyons, and the red-rock cliffs of the Mogollon Rim that mark the edge of the Colorado Plateau. Bordered on the east by Sycamore Canyon Wilderness, the high mesas of Secret Mountain and Wilson Mountain jut out into the lower country, and canyons as deep as 1,500 feet (457 m) drain into Oak Creek and the Verde River.

Prehistoric rock art and abandoned cliff dwellings can be found in the wilderness.
