Texas Republican Rep. Will Hurd — a frequent critic of President Donald Trump who represents one of the most competitive districts in the country — will not seek reelection, he announced Thursday.
“I have made the decision to not seek reelection for the 23rd Congressional District of Texas in order to pursue opportunities outside the halls of Congress to solve problems at the nexus between technology and national security,” he tweeted Thursday..The former CIA agent referenced China’s geopolitical threat, international competition in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and instability in Central America as issues he hoped to address outside of Congress, citing the role of “the private sector and civil society.”
