There are two types of street performers: those that rely on talented performances, and those that rely on tricks or sleight of hand. Both work well enough, but the latter can be more interesting, just because it takes a lot to figure out exactly what is going on. Take, for example, the floating street performer.
It looks like just a robed man sitting above a carpet with a stick to support himself, but what is it really? We know that he isn’t floating, but how does he perform this trick? While it isn’t clear in the video, the picture below will fill you in on what exactly is going on. Under the carpet is a large metal plate, and there is another one under the performer’s bottom. A steel pole hidden in the stick then connects the two plates through the performer’s sleeve. What are you favorite street performers?
