A California teenager charged with slaying an elderly couple in their sleep was honored for saving his father’s life just four years earlier.

Daniel Marsh, 16, will be tried as an adult for the murder of Chip Northup, 87, and his 76-year-old wife, Claudia Maupin, CBS Sacramento reports.

When he was 12, Marsh was hailed as a hero and honored by the Red Cross for his quick thinking when his father suffered a heart attack while driving.

“All of a sudden, he passed out and sort of flew back into his seat. I grabbed onto the steering wheel, directed it off to the side of the road,” Daniel told FOX40 at the time.

Four years later, the story is much different for the Davis teen.

A massive wildfire threatened a tourist town in Colorado’s southwestern mountains on Friday, forcing its roughly 400 residents to flee ahead of the fast-burning blaze fueled by hot, windy weather.

Wildland firefighters teamed up with local firefighters to try to protect South Fork, which is surrounded by the Rio Grande National Forest. State authorities said the 47-square-mile fire is about seven miles southwest of town and has been advancing at a rate of about a mile an hour. Thick smoke was limiting visibility.

Fire spokeswoman Penny Bertram wouldn’t speculate on the likelihood of the town burning. There’s a high probability of the fire reaching the town if the fire continues to behave as it has, though crews were staging resources to protect its buildings, she said.

More than one in three women worldwide have experienced physical or sexual violence, a report by the World Health Organization and other groups says.

It says 38% of all women murdered were killed by their partners, and such violence is a major contributor to depression and other health problems.

WHO head Margaret Chan said violence against women was “a global health problem of epidemic proportions”.

The study also calls for toleration of such attacks worldwide to be halted.

And it says new guidelines must be adopted by health officials around the world to prevent the abuse and offer better protection to victims.

‘Fear of stigma’

The report on partner and non-partner violence against women was released by the WHO, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC).

LeBron James can rest as long as he wants.

He’s now a two-time NBA champion and a two-time Finals MVP.

After two years of almost-constant basketball, James still found a way to be at his absolute best in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. He scored 37 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and simply controlled everything down the stretch, as the Heat won the title with a 95-88 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night.

His final numbers: 12 for 23 from the field, 5 for 10 from 3-point range, 8 for 8 from the line.

And in a season where he was the league’s MVP for a fourth time, he’s now added a second ring to the collection. Suddenly, his resume is looking as complete as some of the other all-time greats.

Name: Helen M. Ryan
Age: 47
Height: 5’0″

How I Gained It: I ate a lot of junk food for “quick energy,” and I was a vegetarian who didn’t eat fruits or vegetables. Stuck in an unhappy marriage with two small children, I ate to make myself feel better. Sugar, fat and carbs made me happy and gave me a special moment. I would sit up at night, after my family had gone to bed, and eat to fill the void inside. It was a little bit of “me time” in a busy day, though it was self-destructive.

I didn’t exercise at all. When I wasn’t taking care of my children or cleaning the house, I sat at my desk, working. Even though I had been a fitness instructor in my early 20s, movement was something I avoided.

LeBron James isn’t done yet.

The four-time NBA MVP scored 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Miami Heat rallied to force overtime in Game 6 and then a Game 7 in the 2013 NBA Finals. The San Antonio Spurs took a 75-65 lead into the final quarter of Game 6 but could not close out the defending champions. With James leading the charge, the Heat outscored the Spurs 38-25 in the fourth quarter and overtime on their way to a 103-100 victory.

“If we’re going to go down tonight, we’re going to go down with me leaving every little bit of energy that I have on the floor. And I just tried to do it on both ends,” James told Doris Burke of ESPN on the court at AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami after the game. James finished with 32 points, 10 rebounds…

They call him Jesus.

Not because he walks on water.

Not because he is the most recognizable person in the entire world.

Not even because a religion spouted after his presence.

They call him Jesus because he is arguably the greatest shooter, big game shot-maker, and conditioned basketball player to ever live.

Yes, the Boston situation got a tad sticky when they refused to give Ray Ray the tender loving care and appreciation which the all time leader in three pointers made ultimately deserved.

The Celtics offered Ray Allen more money than the Heat, however, Miami made Mr. Shuttlesworth feel special, and to boil it down to the most molecular form, needed.

The Miami Heat situation is perfect for Allen.
