You probably don’t know me, but like you I am one of those .01%ers, a proud and unapologetic capitalist. I have founded, co-founded and funded more than 30 companies across a range of industries—from itsy-bitsy ones like the night club I started in my 20s to giant ones like Amazon.com, for which I was the first nonfamily investor. Then I founded aQuantive, an Internet advertising company that was sold to Microsoft in 2007 for $6.4 billion. In cash. My friends and I own a bank. I tell you all this to demonstrate that in many ways I’m no different from you.

It is the depth of winter. My eldest son is out there on the sunflower fields, with a 1967 John Deere tractor, all on his own. So- while it is school holiday here and my wife is having a rest from her school, we decided to hop on our GS, and go and surprise him. We bought a 2 liter Coke, and some meat pies, and then drove all the way to the farm, and on the dirt roads to the back fields where he work. This time I took my little Powershot camera with, to take some better pictures.

This IS the depth of winter around here, I suppose Minnesota does look a bit different in it’s winter time?

And this is to a wonderful wife who rides my bike with me, even on some dirt roads…

I had a wonderful Friday so far!

Painting softest palms red
Passion, pleasure awaits
Soul brush bled and bled
Moments, centuries, eras passed
Till desires were dead

In the great halls of La Boqueria, Barcelona’s central market, tourists, foodies and cooks gather every day to marvel at the fresh food, like pilgrims at the site of a miracle. The chief shrines are the fish counters, where thousands of sea creatures making up dozens of species gleam pink and gray on mounds of ice. But to many ocean scientists this is not a display of the ocean’s bounty but a museum—by the end of this century, many of these animals may be history due to man’s reckless abuse of the planet. As we keep dumping greenhouse gases into the air, the oceans keep sucking them up, making the waters deadly to their inhabitants.

This was a romantic love story set in Pompeii.  It’s a story most know well.  Like Titanic, a romantic twist make the story more likable and more interesting.  However, it seems no matter how hard Hollywood tries, they cannot produce another Titanic.  Pompeii tells it’s own story about the love of a former slave turned gladiator and a woman of royalty named Cassia (Emily Browning).  The gladiator (Milo) is played by none other than the gorgeous Kit Harington,  who plays John Snow on The Game of Thrones.  Keeping true to form, Milo is a bad ass gladiator who is undefeated.  Like the movie, Gladiators with Russell Crow and Djimon Hounsou , Milo meets another gladiator named Atticus (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) who, in the end, is pitted against him for the kill.  Together they must find a way around this or be killed.  One is facing freedom and the other is facing true love, both facing a volcano.  It’s interesting to see…

The only reason I gave Transformers an 8.5 is because of it’s non-stop action and story telling.  I didn’t really care for the endless plots within plots but I realize it’s getting harder and harder to make these sequels interesting and meaningful.  How many times can we humans be rescued by these unwanted machines (Autobots) and how many villains are out there trying to get a piece of the (Autobot) action.   Cade Yeager (Mark Walhberg) a struggling inventor, and his 17 year old daughter Tessa Yeager (Nicola Peltz) along with Shane Dyson  (Jack Reynor) who plays Tessa’s not so secret boyfriend,  battle the bad guys together.

Age of Extinction begins millions of years ago, during the Cretaceous period*.  Beings or Creators detonate many seeds causing all life to be wiped out on Earth.  4 years after the battle in Chicago, we’re focused on Cade Yeager and his partner Lucas…

As an adventure, Crossbones drags a little, making it somewhat hard to get into.  I decided to watch this period piece because of John Malkovitch.  He is such a brilliant actor, I couldn’t see myself missing out on a series that features him.  Having said that, Crossbones is not as exciting or as entertaining as I expected.  The story takes place in the 18th century (1712) in the Bahamian island of New Providence.  It is said that who ever owns a device called the Longitude Chronometer, which can tell a sailor exactly where he is in the world, controls the seas.  When this device is stolen, Tom Lowe, an undercover assassin played by Richard Coyle is commissioned by the British to seek out and kill the infamous pirate, Edward Teach better known as Blackbeard.  Obviously, Blackbeard and his band of  pirates are suspected of stealing the device.  Upon finding Blackbeard, played by…
