I remember it was not long ago when my parents and I used to quarrel about how my childhood freedom was being taken away from me. I used to constantly fight with mom about how I should be treated like an adult and used to say, “I’m seventeen now, I’m not a child any more so stop treating me like one, and telling me what to do, I’m old enough to make those decisions myself.” But was I really old enough? Princess Michael of Kent has reportedly stated animals do not have rights “because they don’t pay taxes”.

Her alleged comments sparked a backlash from animal rights campaigners who have branded them “ignorant”.

The princess, who is married to the Queen’s cousin, is said to have made the remarks at Henley Literary Festival during a discussion about her new novel, Agnes Sorel: Mistress Of Beauty.

“I’m a great animal lover and I’m involved in a lot of conservation, but animals don’t have rights. They don’t have bank accounts. They don’t vote,” she reportedly said.

I didn’t expect too much from this sequel however, I was pleasantly surprised. Writer Jim Dashner has a fantastic imagination and is a great story teller. It can’t be easy to keep an audience entertained these days. Between the special effects, plots, interest and relevance, critics can be hard on a film. In this second sequel, I loved the additional cast and the continual story. We were not spared any emotions and all ends were neatly tied.

During my summer holiday, I, for the first time, visited the Giraffe Center in Nairobi. I took a bus there from the CBD and after alighting at my stop, I asked a lady who had also just alighted from the same bus for the directions to the Giraffe Center. Apparently she worked almost next door to the place. During the short walk there, we engaged in simple conversation and then she said to me, “Don’t tell me you’re going to Giraffe Center to see giraffes!”

What else would I be going there for, ma’am? 😮

See, the reason she said that is, most of the people who’ve been brought up in the city, like her I presume, have taken numerous trips to the place ever since they were in pre-school. Well, I wasn’t brought up in the city and was super excited about the idea of getting up close with these beautiful creatures! 🙂

I’ve only seen and heard about the Angkor Wat in my highschool textbooks and in the Tomb Raider movie. I’m so curious what the temples look like in reality. So, when we were planning for our Bangkok trip, I had an idea to include Siem Reap in our itinerary (hitting two birds with one stone).

Since Cambodia and Thailand are just separated by a land boarder, we booked a flight going to Siem Reap and a returning flight to Manila from Bangkok. Based on the research that we did, there are buses going to Bangkok daily.

All is set and we were bound to Siem Reap International Airport. We landed at around 10:00pm, Siem Reap time. Although it is already late at night, it was hot and we were really drenched in sweat because the terminal was very far from the airport runway (no shuttle & push carts).

Our plan was to stay at the airport until 6am…
