While hair keeps animals warm, it also creates a daily burden of maintenance. Adult cats, for instance, spend up to 50 percent of their day grooming. 

But not all animals keep clean in the same way. Some work hard for it, while others have developed more efficient mechanisms.

According to a new study from David Hu, an associate professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and his mechanical engineering Ph.D. student, Guillermo Amador, understanding the different cleaning techniques that animals use could have implications for keeping man-made objects, including spaceships, free of pollutants and dirt.

Researchers at Rice University have created what is certainly one of the most amazing nanomachines ever built: a tiny submersible vehicle with a tiny propeller that spins at a million RPM — all built from a single molecule.

This “nanosubmarine,” made in the lab of chemist James Tour, is made from just 244 atoms. Its engine works like a bacterium’s flagellum, whipping around in a circle whenever ultraviolet light causes its energy state to be excited. In the front (or bow) are two large “pontoons,” which help the craft push its way through the atomic soup, and also fluoresce red light, allowing researchers to track the nanosubmarine’s progress.

And what progress it makes: Each spin of the propeller may only move the sub forward 18 nanometers (a nanometer is a billionth of a meter), but it spins very fast. The result is, as Tour put…

BUT: For the past several days, her name and her story have been absolutely exploding all over my social media feeds: “Social Media Star Quits Instagram, Revealing it’s a Sham.” “‘Dream Life’ Not So Dreamy.” “Leaving Behind the Likes” blah blah blah The headlines were quite literally inescapable.

So I clicked.

Long story short, this Australian “Instagram Model” ((that’s a thing apparently)) is “quitting” social media because she was tired of projecting her life as a dream, and feeling that her worth was tied to her “likes” and “followers.” Bluntly put, she “was miserable.” ((Her words, not mine!))

And even though, –I’ll say what everyone is thinking– this may just be a publicity stunt, I actually found myself…

And till I became a solo traveller heading myself to South of Spain, backpacking in South East Asia and the most recent trip was hitchhiking in Europe, I learned something new about the world and a little bit more about myself.

Today, it’s my birthday. Another year has gone by …so quickly. I can’t believe that it’s already my birthday again… And that I turn 26 years old. Instead of panicking over getting closer and closer to my 30s not having anything specific planned for my future, I choose to take my birthday as an opportunity to step back and sort of reflect upon my life. Because, this year, my birthday is special. This year, my birthday is a game changer.
In many ways, 2015 has been the end of an era, and my birthday just underlines this fact. Soon I’m relocating to Amsterdam, Holland, where an entire new life awaits me as a grown-up (ish) graduate with work and lots of responsibility. Fresh pomegranate juice. I can’t emphasis how fantastic this is !! I am going through the craze of pomegranate at the moment 😛 (Maybe the haze  clouded my brain) .Though you have to painstakingly take the seeds out and blend it to get the juice. (Just a little pain for so much of pain)
