A day after Donald Trump refused to tell the Washington Post whether he thinks President Barack Obama was born in the United States, his campaign put out a statement saying he believes it to be the case.
“In 2011, Mr. Trump was finally able to bring this ugly incident to its conclusion by successfully compelling President Obama to release his birth certificate,” read the statement from Trump’s communications adviser, Jason Miller. “Having successfully obtained President Obama’s birth certificate when others could not, Mr. Trump believes that President Obama was born in the United States.”
On the surface, Miller’s statement seems like a final, reluctant step in a multi-year attempt Trump has made to raise doubts about Obama; the real estate mogul just now accepting the current president’s Hawaiian birth under the intense pressure of his own campaign.

Hell or high water is another summer flick that flew way under the radar. Hardly advertised, it has a semi-quasi cowboy taste to it. It could have been an exciting story but it is overcast by the oh so slow progression of events and flow to the bottom line. I, who am a very detailed person, got bored waiting and waiting and waiting…well, you get my point. The movie was too slow! Don’t get me wrong, it was still a good story and well acted.
There seems to be a push in Hollywood for films based on true stories. Embellished as they may be to make the story more exciting, most are pretty good and add rather than take away from the events that made it worthy of a Hollywood film in the first place. Florence Foster Jenkins (Meryl Streep) is no exception. Some of these films are about people a lot of us have never even heard of. I for one have never heard of Florence Foster Jenkins. I must say, it was my loss. It appears that Florence, an American socialite and flamboyant dresser, loved music more than life. She became a prominent musical cult figure in NYC from the 1920s through the 1940s. Madame or Lady Jenkins (as she liked to be called) loved to sing however, she was known for her poor singing abilities and allegedly had no idea how…
Based on a true story, War Dogs, a very dark comedy, was well written and well acted. No matter whose point of view this story was told from, those who were wrong seemed to get their just deserts and those who were right seemed to benefit accordingly. Two high school grads, who appeared to be best friends in school, moved on in separate directions. Neither had gainful employment or prospects of a meaningful career on their horizon. Efraim Diveroli (Jonah Hill), the more outgoing of the two fared a little better than his buddy David Packouz (Miles Teller), who was trying to make a career selling Egyptian, 400 count sheets to elderly homes. He quickly found out that no one really cared weather or not the elderly slept on better sheets or not, in the end, elderly had bigger problems than good sheets. The Fight Within was not a well advertised movie, probably because it’s faith based. As it turns out, it wasn’t one of the best faith based movies I’ve seen but it was decent enough to hold ones interest. Logan Chandler (John Major Davis) is a boxer who doesn’t really want to be a boxer. His dad, Rich Chandler (Dan Severn) owns a gym and was a pretty good boxer but died of a heart attack, leaving the gym to Logan and his brother Mason Chandler (Mike H. Taylor). Pretty good for a summer fill in comedy. I actually laughed, a lot. The first notable information I’d like to tell you is, DON’T TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO SEE THIS MOVIE! Language, nudity, and subject material would be highly inappropriate for a child. I’m surprised this comedy didn’t get an “X” rating for full frontal nudity and lewd conversation about “bush” (and I don’t mean the former president). Bad Moms was funny, funky and fun but it is definitely for adults only. (Mila Kunis) plays Amy Mitchell, a mom with two children married to Mike Mitchell, (David Walton) a not so upstanding husband. Finding new adventures for the Star Trek series can’t be easy after so many years of TV episodes and the many versions produced on the big screen. Star Trek Beyond is the 13th sequel of the Star Trek franchise and the 3rd reboot. I’m amazed how well these stories are written. Aside from the fact that I’m a big Star Trek fan, I believe these stories have a lot to offer everyone. This time around, a deceitful survivor and Krall’s henchwoman, Kalara / Jessica Wolff (Lydia Wilson) lures the USS Enterprise into an ambush as Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and crew respond to a distress signal to rescue her ship stranded on Altamid, a planet within the nebula. Upon entering Altamid, The Enterprise is attacked and torn apart. It all started in 2002 with “Jason Bourne Identity”. Jason is found with 2 bullets in his back, unconscious, with amnesia. He had no idea who he was. Since then there was Bourne Supremacy in 2004, Borune Ultimatum in 2007, Bourne Legacy in 2012 and just Jason Bourne in 2016. Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) still has not fully regained his memory but is still trying to find out who he really is with the help of rough CIA agent, Nicky Parson (Julia Stiles). After Nicky hacks the CIA and learns significant information about Jason’s identity, she is exposed and tailed all the way to Jason Bourne, who is in Greece. Here we are, back for the third Purge movie. Shockingly, the second was better than the first and the third is better than the second, which makes this one the best of the sequels. The concept is still ridiculous but the movie was really good. There’s quite a bit going on in The Purge: Election Year however, I’ll keep the story telling short, as not to give away too many spoilers, even though it’s pretty much the same as the first two. The US government feels by giving all people in the United States the freedom to murder anyone they please, with no penalty, once a year, for a period of 12 hours, will keep crime down and allow those with pent up stress and frustrations to release their anxieties.
