Creed III is a sports drama directed by Michael B. Jordan (in his directorial debut) from a screenplay by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin. It is the sequel to Creed II (2018), the third in the Creed series, and the ninth overall in the Rocky film series. Creed III is about a thriving boxer who faces off against a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy.  Creed I and Creed II were outstanding films, so I expected Creed III to follow suit.  I wasn’t disappointed.

Tell It Like a Woman is an American–Italian anthology. Premiering at the Taormina Film Fest, Tell It Like a Woman is an anthology of seven short stories directed by women, about women, for everyone, both in front of and behind the camera. Tell It Like a Woman was filmed in different parts of the world. I watched Tell It Like a Woman because it has an Oscar nomination. The film had the potential to be great but wasn’t able to complete the necessary dots to make that happen.

Cocaine Bear is a comedy horror film directed and produced by Elizabeth Banks and written by Jimmy Warden. The film is loosely inspired by the true story of the “Cocaine Bear”, an American black bear that ingested millions of dollars worth of lost cocaine in 1985. I had a feeling Cocaine Bear was going to either be very funny or very stupid.  I was right, it was not good.  Cocaine Bear is dedicated to Ray Liotta, who died in his sleep at the age of 67 in May 2022, while filming the movie ‘Dangerous Waters’ in the Dominican Republic. It’s too bad one of Ray’s last movies is a semi-quasi bad one.

The Martha Mitchell Effect is a Netflix original documentary directed by Anne Alvergue and Debra McClutchy. Not to be confused with the Martha Mitchell effect, which this documentary is named for. The Martha Mitchell Effect is another Oscar-nominated documentary I watched because it was nominated.  I thought this film was very well directed and it provided us with a truckload of information about Martha Mitchell and her unique way of expressing herself.

Told through archival footage, its story is centered around the Watergate scandal and whistleblower Martha Mitchell, a cabinet wife married to John Mitchell who was the attorney general from 1969 to 1972. Martha was gaslit by the Nixon administration in an attempt to keep her silent. A mini-series starring Julia Roberts as Martha Mitchell aired on April 24, 2022.  The mini-series was called Gaslit, which told the entire story in eight episodes. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a superhero film based on Marvel Comics. The film is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, and is the sequel to Ant-Man (2015) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and the 31st film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The version was directed by Peyton Reed and written by Jeff Loveness. In the film, Lang and Van Dyne are transported to the Quantum Realm along with their family and face Kang the Conqueror. Did anybody say superheroes, then I’m right there. I enjoyed this version of Ant-Man more than the others. It was beautifully filmed among other reasons for my high rating.
