Although ulcerative colitis can appear at any age, it usually happens to younger people, often between the ages of 15 and 30 — a time in your life when you don’t expect to have a serious health problem. That was the case with Adam Scheuer, whose relatives had assorted stomach problems, so when he experienced discomfort, he considered it just a part of life.
