Excerpts from a piece by T. D. Jakes

*************************************************************************************************************************

There are people who can walk away from you.

And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don’t want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to
see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone.

When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they…

Read what a white reporter wrote in a Georgia newspaper

Andrew M. Manis is associate professor of history at Macon State College in Georgia and wrote this for an editorial in the Macon Telegraph.

Andrew M. Manis: When Are WE Going to Get Over It?

For much of the last forty years, ever since America “fixed” its race problem in the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, we white people have been impatient with African Americans who continued to blame race for their difficulties. Often we have heard whites ask, “When are African Americans finally going to get over it?
Now I want to ask:
“When are we White Americans going to get over our ridiculous obsession with skin color?
Recent reports that “Election…

Remembering and Evaluating Amalek in View of Iran
East Windsor, New Jersey 08520

The Bible, in Deuteronomy 25:17-19, commands us to remember Amalek and his actions. Who exactly was Amalek and what did they do? And lastly, why is that important today? At the time of Moses, just after the Jews left Egypt, Amalek attacked and killed many people even though there was no particular benefit to them. In fact, their hatred was so strong; they were willing to suffer significant losses to their own people in battle after attacking the Jews.

Perhaps the greatest example of this type of behavior during the twentieth century was the action of the Nazi German government at the time of the Battle of Stalingrad in World War II. A quarter of million German soldiers were at war in the Soviet city of Stalingrad. In this frigid, long-running battle the German army became very…

The Salt Lake Tribune: Obama has earned another term

First Published 7 hours ago  Updated 40 minutes ago

Nowhere has Mitt Romney’s pursuit of the presidency been more warmly welcomed or closely followed than here in Utah. The Republican nominee’s political and religious pedigrees, his adeptly bipartisan governorship of a Democratic state, and his head for business…

The nation’s economy continued to expand in the third quarter, rising at a better-than-expected annualized rate of 2 percent, the Commerce Department said this morning.

The Gross Domestic Product numbers are preliminary and will be adjusted but economists had expected a rate of 1.8 percent for the period. GDP rose at a 1.3 percent rate in the second quarter.  It’s the first back-to-back quarters 2 percent or lower since the U.S. began emerging from recession in 2009.

When it comes to Iran, the mullahs started the war a long time ago. Here’s a list of the American victims of Iranian aggression: The 17 Americans killed in April 1983 at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut by the Iranian-backed Islamic Jihad Organization, later known as Hizbullah. The 241 U.S. servicemen killed by Islamic Jihad at the Marine barracks in Beirut on Oct. 23, 1983.
Master Chief Robert Dean Stethem, beaten to death in June 1985 by a Hizbullah terrorist in Beirut aboard TWA flight 847. William Francis Buckley, the CIA station chief in Beirut, tortured to death by Hizbullah that same month. Marine Col. William Higgins, taken hostage in 1988 while serving with UN peacekeepers in Lebanon and hanged by Hizbullah sometime later.
The 19 U.S. Air Force personnel killed in June 1996 in the Khobar Towers bombing, for which…

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell endorsed President Barack Obama for a second term Thursday.

“You know, I voted for him in 2008 and I plan to stick with him in 2012, and I’ll be voting for he and Vice President Joe Biden next month,” he said on CBS’ “This Morning.”

Asked whether it was an endorsement, he said, “Yes.”

RACINE, Wis. — As the music of Stevie Wonder pulsated through Racine Memorial Hall, Michelle Obama bounded onto the stage.

“You know what this room feels like? It feels like four more years in here!” the first lady exclaimed as the crowd of 2,500 roared its approval. The audience, including some who had waited overnight to see her, thundered again after Mrs. Obama noted that Racine is just 80 miles north of her hometown.

Romney in Massachusetts.

Wanted to share with you the column I sent to the Denver Post (Colorado is a swing state and virtually tied),
Here I am, a resident of Massachusetts listening to my former Governor speak convincingly and with seeming conviction at the Denver debate. I was startled by my Déjà vu experience and by the assumptions held by my out-of-town friends about Mr. Romney’s governorship. So, as an editor and author of articles and texts about social and political contexts, I wanted to reach out to my distant neighbors in Colorado and share my understanding of Mr. Romney’s governorship and the implications for the Presidency. Massachusetts is known as a liberal state, but we often vote for Republican governors, and…
