A 15-year-old girl who had performed in President Barack Obama’s inauguration festivities is the latest face on the ever-increasing homicide toll in the president’s hometown, killed in a Chicago park as she talked with friends by a gunman who apparently was not even aiming at her.

Chicago police said Hadiya Pendleton was in a park about a mile from Obama’s home in a South Side neighborhood Tuesday afternoon when a man opened fire on the group. Hadiya was shot in the back as she tried to escape.

When Ed Koch was mayor, it seemed as if all of New York was being run by a deli counterman. Koch was funny, irritable, opinionated, often rude and prone to yelling.

And it worked, for a while at least.

With a Bronx-born combination of chutzpah and humor, Koch steered New York back from the brink of financial ruin and infused the city with new energy and optimism in the 1970s and `80s while racing around town, startling ordinary New Yorkers by asking, “How’m I doing?” He was usually in too much of a hurry to wait for an answer.

Yesterday Sony unveiled a trailer for Playstation 2013.

Yeah, I guess it’s lightning? We’ll keep you posted.

The mythology side of Lunar New Year was originated from a monster ‘nian’ (meaning ‘year’).  The beast had a head like a lion and a body like a bull.  It lives in deep sea for the whole season.

Every spring around the lunar month or Chinese New Year it will come ashore to destroy farms and attack humans.  Villagers were helpless.  They discussed how to make the ‘nian’ stay away from them and leave them in peace.  So they started hanging red cloths and lighted red lanterns, pasting red couplet outside the houses in the hope to deter this ferocious animal.  Whenever, the animal appeared, the villagers make loud noises with drums and gongs, chopping vegetables /meats loudly and ignite fireworks to subdue the beast.  Somehow, ‘nian’ was back off by these intimidations.  It left the village and never returned again.

Thus, the villagers realized that…

So you want to create something unique?
Think it’s your turn to become a YouTube sensation?

99.9% of videos fail to get massive views and shares because of several basic mistakes that can be easily avoided. How? We thought you’d never ask –

Do’s:

There are two main challenges that the mobile phone filmmaker has to face – picture stability and audio quality. Overcome those technical issues and you’ll be on the right track to millions of viewers!

• Keep your arms and camera steady without shaking! You’ll be amazed how steady the human body can be when used properly. Tuck your elbows into your sides and think of your torso as one solid unit. When you change angle with your camera-phone, don’t just move the phone – move your entire torso. You will only look stupid for a couple of minutes, but your steady video will last forever.

2012 was the year crowdfunding became a household name. With the amazing success of the Pebble Smartwatch, iPhone-powered gTar, and endless arts, media, and design projects, funding as we knew it changed entirely. Kickstarter became not only a spreading phenomenon, but an actual verb. “Great idea, you should Kickstart it”.

small businesses today are struggling more than ever to stay afloat, and entrepreneurs are not facing great odds. Crowdfunding offers these individuals a chance at success, allows creators to stay true to their projects without having to neither answer to any greater structure nor follow any agenda forced upon them. It is also a great way to build a community that is attached to the product. Fundraising can sometime be more effective in friendraising than the actual raising of funds.

2012 was the year a couple of projects made it big, meaning It only makes sense that 2013 will see…

“I did not know what to do.” – Manti Te’o in an interview with Katie Couric

It started out as a real-life heroic story that pulled on the heart strings of sports lovers everywhere, but as details continue to emerge, the entire public is in a frenzy searching for the truth. How could one seemingly-normal young man, well on his way to football fame, be involved in such a scandal? Who is Lennay Kekua, and who’s really behind this ultimate deception?

Manti Te’o issued a statement on January 16th regarding the initial Deadspin report that his girlfriend, Lennay Kekua, never existed. Te’o, a Heisman finalist for this year, insisted that he had been a victim of a hoax.

“…Over an extended period of time, I developed an emotional relationship with a woman I met online. We maintained … [our] relationship by communicating frequently online and on the phone… To realize that…
