Massachusetts Gov. has banned all traffic from roads after 4 p.m. Friday

Snow was falling around the Northeast on Friday, ushering in what’s predicted to be a massive, possibly historic blizzard, and sending residents scurrying to stock up on food and gas up their cars ahead of the storm poised to dump up to 3 feet of snow from New York City to Boston and beyond.

Even before the first snowflake had fallen, Boston, Providence, R.I., Hartford, Conn., and other towns and cities in New England and upstate New York towns canceled school Friday, and airlines scratched more than 3,700 flights through Saturday, with the disruptions from the blizzard certain to ripple across the U.S.

The song “It Is Well With My Soul” was written by a successful Christian lawyer. He had two girls and a wife and the family planned a summer trip to go overseas. Since he had a lot of work to do, he sent his family and decided to follow them later. He heard the news while on the following ship that another ship had capsized and he knew that his family was there since they mentioned the name of the ship. On His return home, his Law firm was burned down and the insurance refused to pay, they said “It’s An Act Of God”. He had no money to pay for his house and no work, he also lost his house. Then while sitting and thinking what’s happening to him, being a spiritual person, he wrote a song – whatever…

Former Scientologist Jenna Miscavige Hill joined HuffPost Live Thursday to share her personal story of growing up in the church and to explain how she escaped from it.

Hill, the niece of church leader David Miscavige and author of Jenna Miscavige Hilltold HuffPost Live host Ahmed Shihab-Eldin about the oppressive practices of the church, which include forced abortion and abuse.

“If you do become pregnant when you’re there, you get kicked out,” she said. “Or many of my friends were actually coerced into having abortions.”

CA’s SocialU series has inspired me to write this post. It’s been a while since I covered a live tech event but I realize why it’s important to me as an individual contributor and a technology associate or advocate. In fact, utilizing social media for events can benefit you and/or your company both directly and indirectly depending on what you cover and what your goals or objectives are. My event of measurement is CA World. In 2010 I attended CA World in grand fashion as a customer committee member. What is that? I was selected to attend and ‘work’ the event based on an idea I had sent to CA Inc that recommended marketing, sharing, and socializing the CA user communities for whom I was elected communications officer for at the time. The opportunity led me to my first experience with live event social media sharing and ultimately, it changed my outlook on technology and how to…

I had a long weekend. Friday was a public holiday, here in Mauritius. Yet, as I’m writing this, on Monday morning, I realise that even though I should have had more time to do what I had to do, I in fact did not. I even didn’t have the time to check out WordPress and check my mail as I used to!

What happened exactly?

Well, on Friday, I got my hair cut (again haha, I tend to keep it as short as a boy’s), then since it was a holiday I went to my grandma’s and during my spare time, I blogged (my last post) and did Art homework. Fine.

It was on Saturday that I lost it.

My mind, I guess.

He has haunted us for more than fifty years – this strange scientist, with his theory of primal reptiles embedded in each of us. And for years I wondered, Could this bizarre hypothesis be true? Might it explain the ancient instincts – so contrary to my intentions – which I felt arising from the depths of my unconscious mind? Could it really be possible that inside my primate brain lurked a vicious lizard mind, a relic from the era when reptiles ruled the earth?

As it turns out… no, actually. The theory – if not the man who coined it – has proven outright insane in light of the latest scientific research. And yet, speakers and writers around the globe continue to trumpet the truth of the idea.

Reporter Janine di Giovanni has been to the worst places on Earth to bring back stories from Bosnia, Sierra Leone and most recently Syria. She tells stories of human moments within large conflicts — and explores that shocking transition when a familiar city street becomes a bombed-out battleground.

My role [as a war correspondent] is to bring a voice to people who are voiceless [and] to shine a light in the darkest corners of the world.” (Janine di Giovanni)
