Nope. Not the god of sleep.

My quote.

Missive : Take a quote from your favorite movie — there’s the title of your post. Now, write!

“What happened, happened, and could not have happened any other way.” Morpheus in The Matrix.

Often I use this quote. Don’t know in which of the movies he actually speaks those lines, Morpheus had many memorable quotes in those movies, but this one has always rung true for me.

Of course, it’s only in hind sight that all becomes clear and you realise that yes. It has happened, and if it had happened any other way, things would not be as it is now.

Not always a good thing of course, because sometimes things suck, but even then, once you look back on it, you realise that it all formed part of a bigger picture.

I was thinking…

The new rules regarding doing away with disembarkation forms at airports will save fliers a lot of time, but it will be a major boost for security agencies who are dealing with this massive problem of international terrorism.

The bureau of immigration has decided to do away with disembarkation forms. This would mean that the time spent at the immigration counter would come down. Details of Indians leaving the country and those foreigners coming into India will be provided by the airline 15 minutes before departure. This new advance passenger information system is being introduced from June 1 in India and would be fully functional in all airports in the month of September 2013. The passport details, nature of visa and even their place of stay will be available with the immigration much before the arrival.

Susan Burton wasn’t surprised when she lost her job as a Realtor. Grief-stricken from the loss of her 5-year-old son, killed in a car accident years earlier, Burton had been on a downward spiral of crack cocaine and alcohol abuse, including stints in prison. “The writing was on the wall,” she says of getting fired.

But for some, hitting rock bottom is a wake-up call. And that was the case for Burton, now 61. After losing her job in 1996, she says that she had one last prison stint a year later for drug possession and had her epiphany. “I was going to die a miserable death” she says, if she didn’t make a change.

Dolphins Armed With Guns Escape Ukrainian Military Compound

” Dolphins armed with guns allegedly escaped from a Ukrainian Navy staging area and are now roaming the Black Sea off the coast of Crimea.

The marine mammals were said to be part of a revived Cold War-era program where dolphins are trained for military use such as fighting and killing frogmen-saboteurs, searching for mines, and scouting and even destroying enemy battleships, according to a Russian news agency.

Dolphins Armed with Pistols

” Sounds like something out of a bad James Bond movie. The Ukrainian navy is training captive dolphins to attack enemy swimmers. According to RIA Novosti:

The killer-dolphins will be trained to attack enemy combat swimmers using special knives or pistols fixed to their heads, the source said. “We are now planning training exercises for counter-combat swimmer tasks in order to defend ships in port and…

The Effects Of Sequestration On Federal Spending

” While the sequester is widely advertised as cutting spending over a ten year period, there is no actual reduction in overall spending levels. Rather, the sequester slows the overall growth in spending slightly between 2013 and 2023, with spending increasing by $2.40 trillion during that time period. Spending grows 51 percent, or $1.81 trillion, with sequestration between 2013 and 2021, the period when automatic spending procedures are to be enforced.”

Google Glasses: Wave Goodbye To Your Privacy

” Last week, Seattle’s 5 Point Café, a funky bar in the city’s Belttown neighborhood, posted notice of its ban on Google Glass, adding: “ass kickings will be encouraged for violators.” The owner’s reason? “People want to go [to my bar] and be not known … and definitely don’t want to be secretly filmed or videotaped and immediately put on the Internet.”

If you haven’t already heard, Google Glass is the next big thing in tech, poised to transform our lifestyles. Think smartphones had an impact? They’ve got nothing on this new product, set for release next year. Essentially, Google Glass is a computer-device in the form of (you guessed it) glasses. While wearing the glasses, calendar reminders, directions, emails, iChat conversations — and basically anything you can currently do via your smartphone — display on your lens. Commands…
