Knoxville News:

“Those tests have helped send the guilty to prison or death row and helped free the innocent. Paul Gregory House, 47, spent 22 years under a death sentence for killing a Union County housewife until DNA evidence helped raise enough questions about the case to win his freedom.”

Lt. Clyde Cowan used to carry a forensics kit that could fit in his pocket.

Now the equipment fills a van.

“In those days, we had to collect all the evidence ourselves,” said Cowan, commander of the Major Crimes Unit for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. “We’d spend a lot of time on the crime scene, just checking for prints. Now we can do so much more.”

Ask any veteran homicide detective in East Tennessee, and they’ll say the same. Changes in forensic technology over the past three decades have rewritten the rules of murder investigation, offering ways to solve…

So, there’s going to be a Star Wars: Episode VII (and VIII and IX) after all. For years, George Lucas had sworn that 2005’s Revenge of the Sith would be the last film produced for the saga. If there’s one thing that us Star Wars fans know, however, it’s that, when it comes to Star Wars, George Lucas’ word should be taken with a … hold on, I’m looking for something smaller than a “grain of salt” … powder residue of flour. Back in the ’70s, the original plan was to make either nine or 12 Star Wars films, depending on what day Lucas was asked. The fact that he’s changed his mind by selling Lucasfilm to Disney is not particularly surprising, but the real question is: Where does the story go from here?

PSY says he will change the title and lyrics of his potential “Gangnam Style” follow-up over worries it could offend Arabs.

The announced title for the song can be written as “Assarabia” or “Assaravia” in English. It’s slang used by South Koreans to express thrills. It suggests no ethnicity or body part, but worries have risen that Arabs might misinterpret the title and find it derogatory.

PSY said Monday on a South Korean social media website that he has decided to change the title. Some lyrics also will change.

After several Korean albums, PSY has promised future work in English but it isn’t clear when. The “Gangnam Style” video with its catchy tune and much-imitated horse-riding dance has a record 1.44 billion views on YouTube since July.

In yet another bid to fight the menace of counterfeit currency in India, the government has decided to introduce one billion pieces of the Rs 10 bank notes made out of plastic on a trial basis. After the trial period a decision would be taken on making this a permanent solution and also the denomination of the plastic notes too would be increased.
The biggest problem that the Indian Government is facing regarding counterfeit currency is from the Rs 500 notes. If the trial process goes on fine, then the government would introduce the plastic or polymer notes in a higher denomination.

In what’s either a case of extremely unconventional instruction or someone just being a jerk, University of Oregon School of Law adjunct professor James Olmsted was fired for allegedly harassing students at a pro-immigration rally. “If you want this country back, start a f*ckin’ war and take it back,” an NSFW video shows him ranting. “Get a gun. Shoot me first. I’m right here.” He then added, “Instead of just being pussies and talking, do something.

Mindful Eating: Listen on MP3 or on YouTube

Pamela Ziemann and I talk about Mindful Eating and my path to overcoming diabetes. The key for me was being more aware, slowing down and eating less. I became healthier, happier and actually got more done with this approach.

Few years ago, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. My doctor told me that I will have exercise more, adjust my life style and perhaps take medication. I was overweight and my BMI was high.

I tried to exercise but found it very challenging. Perhaps some people can relate to similar challenges. By increasing my awareness on what to eat, when to eat and How Much to eat I controlled diabetes and now enjoy very healthy weight. The key  difference in my approach this time was to gradually improve my awareness and get into good habits without trying too hard, too fast or…

“The Bible” has been an incredibly successful miniseries for the History channel, so it’s no wonder viewers took to the internet after noticing that the actor cast in the role of Satan looks quite a bit like President Barack Obama.

Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni plays the role of the fallen angel. A number of Twitter users noticed the similarity between Ouazanni and Obama on Sunday. Among them was Glenn Beck, who first tweeted that the series was “one of the most important shows in decades,” then posted a screenshot of Ouazanni and asked if others thought he looked like “That Guy,” Beck’s preferred term for Obama.
