More than 4.2 million people enrolled into private plans via Obamacare’s health insurance exchange marketplaces through March 1, the Department of Health and Human Services announced in a report Tuesday.
The first open enrollment period on the exchanges, which are intended for individuals and families who don’t get health benefits at work and aren’t covered by government health care programs, ends March 31 for private coverage that will be in effect this year. At the current pace, sign-ups are below the original target of 5.6 million by the end of February, based on the Congressional Budget Office projection of 7 million by the end of March. Last month, the budget office downgraded those projections to 6 million total for the full six-month enrollment period, so a big surge would be needed in the final weeks to meet that benchmark.

The next time you start shaking your finger and shouting “Shame on you!” because your dog chewed up your favorite fuzzy slippers, just remember that no matter how guilty your dog looks, it doesn’t know what your rant is about.
Behaviorists insist dogs lack shame. The guilty look — head cowered, ears back, eyes droopy — is a reaction to the tantrum you are throwing now over the damage they did hours earlier.
“Just get over it and remind yourself not to put temptation in the way next time,” said Dr. Bonnie Beaver, a professor at Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and executive director of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists.

I just read the account of the golden calf in the book of Exodus and it was reminiscent of looking in a mirror.
If you’ve ever sat in a sermon about Exodus, you’ve probably heard that we modern day Christians are a lot like the Israelites were. I always had a hard time swallowing that.
I mean, look at the miracles they witnessed! The great deliverance the Lord worked for them! And then they turned around and rejected God in favor of a statue of a gold cow?
Nope, I never do anything like that.
What we sometimes fail to take into account are the cultural differences. Back then, the people were more honest. They wanted to rule their own lives and make their own laws. So they made gods for themselves and called them gods.
