Republicans have offered up a litany of excuses for filibustering former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel’s appointment as Defense Secretary, and none of them make a lot of sense. But the award of biggest fail belongs to John McCain. John McCain filibustered Hagel yesterday over Hagel’s criticism of Bush, but in 2008 McCain’s harsh unleashing on Bush left no stone unturned.

Republicans are supposed to be rebranding their party, but instead, they’re busy making history by filibustering a defense secretary nominee. This is the first time the filibuster has been used against a defense secretary nominee (note: Republicans are pretending it wasn’t a filibuster). Perhaps Republicans aren’t concerned about national security after all.

Of the many reasons given for obstructing the Republican nominee, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) offered the most insane. After McCain threatened to block Hagel unless the Obama administration answered his questions about Benghazi (McCain was too busy…

While some parts of the U.S. just had a huge snow, the temperatures are heating up here in western Kentucky.  Well, sort of.  One day it’s 30 degrees, and the next day its 60 degrees.  Either way, the weather is certainly messing with me.  Can it just be Spring already?

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, Spring  this year begins on March 20th.  I have already started my semi-graden by planting an avocado tree! It has been ‘sprouting’ for a couple of days, but I still have yet to see any roots.  This will be my first year attempting at growing flowers.  Any suggestions?

When thinking of warmer weather, I am reminded of my time in Costa Rica in which butterflies blew in the breeze and gardens were full of flora and fauna beckoning at every turn.  If I could live anywhere, it would certainly be Costa Rica where Pura…

This terrifying video of a meteor explosion over Chelyabinsk, Russia, is one of many angles of the fiery event captured by amateurs Friday.

This particularly dramatic angle of the explosion over a highway shows a bright flash in the sky, as the 10-ton meteor releases several kilotons of energy. The meteor explosion reportedly injured hundreds, mainly due to flying shards of glass.

There was no question. The man standing before Rick Heltebrake on a rural mountain road was Christopher Dorner.

Clad in camouflage from head to toe and wearing a bulletproof vest packed with ammunition, the most wanted man in America was just a few feet away, having emerged from a grove of trees holding a large assault-style rifle.

As teams of officers who had sought the fugitive ex-Los Angeles police officer for a week were closing in, Dorner pointed the gun at Heltebrake and ordered him out of his truck.

“I don’t want to hurt you. Start walking and take your dog,” Heltebrake recalled Dorner saying during the carjacking Tuesday.
