Her 2€ : Up early today, and already Metro bound. We have been constantly on the go, making it difficult for me to recall what activities go with what days. Today is Avila and Segovia day! We booked this adventure with Julia Travel and our guide was awesome. She was very, “Do what you want, just be back to the bus on time.”
We drove to Avila, about an hour and twenty minutes from Madrid. The city reminded me of the game Discworld (loved that game). Just the most picture perfect vision of how I imagine a castle should look. We started at the Basilica outside of the city walls. The standout was a carved, empty tomb, called a cenotaph, that depicted the crucifixion of three children by the Romans in a very barbaric bone breaking fashion.
