
A new device is claimed to be the final word for artists looking for the right color — the Scribble pen lets you pick any shade or hue in the world just by touching the pen’s tip to it, and the pen will replicate that color exactly. The device made a limited debut in June, but it wasn’t clear at the time whether it was much more than a concept. Now, although the creators are seeking funds via Kickstarter, the Scribble at least exists as a working prototype.
It functions much like a tiny scanner and inkjet printer. One end has a small camera, and any color you press it against is reproduced on the other end by combining elementary ink colors — same as if you were printing that color. You’ll have to buy new cartridges when you run out, of course. But a…
